Once, some rural laborers were to be taken to some destination to commence work on some task.
They were to be conveyed by a pick-up truck which arrived on an eventful morning.
These villagemen let out loud whoops and cheers on seeing the vehicle they were to ride in, having never been in an automobile before.
With a ceremonious gait, they each climbed into the back of the pick-up before it zoomed off.
While the vehicle was still speeding past houses, one of these village chumps thought they had arrived at their destination.
Without giving thought to it, he stepped off the moving van. Alas! He began bounding, spinning, rolling, and tumbling down the dirt track.
By the time he came to a halt, he had acquired some minor injuries and chewed on a plateful of dust.
On seeing this uncommon and odd mode of disembarking from a vehicle, both the other laborers and driver ran to behold this spectacle of a man.
He looked like something painted with the color of dust and a touch of red.
Asking him the motive for this rather unusual method of getting off a truck, he replied, "I didn't know it would happen that way, I have never been on a moving vehicle before."
What's the moral of this story?
Well, now, we know all too well, that our ignorant friend wouldn't be getting off any vehicle, anytime, anywhere, in that same manner in a hurry.
Okay, just kidding.
The main thing to take away here is that our rural friend was ignorant. Ignorant of the law of physics.
He thought he was stationary, although the vehicle was in full motion.
He didn't know that his body was moving at the same speed as the truck, and when he tried to alight, he was essentially trying to stop without brakes.
The lesson here is that: although he was ignorant, he still suffered the consequences of abusing a simple fundamental law.
How many of us are like this rural man? Ignorant of the laws and principles of nature and just blundering through life almost clueless.
The world as we know it operates on laws. Laws that are in motion even if you don't see or understand them.
If you throw an orange up it will come back down to you. If you walk off the edge of a building, you will hurtle down and certainly dash your foot against a stone.
But, hey, these are laws that you know so you can easily avoid the consequences of abusing them. What about those laws that you don't know of?
What about the law of money that you don't abide by and then wonder why you are always in financial straits?
What about the law of sowing and reaping, and then you wonder why bad things happen to you? Or why you never seem to have a lucky break.
What about the law of attraction—as a man thinketh so he is, then you wonder why good things never come your way?
The fact that you are in one undesirable condition or the other may just mean that you are abusing a fundamental law of life.
You don't need to look too far to solve this. Only find the law, abide by it and make it work for you.
Don't be like our ignorant rural friend who said, "I didn't know it would happen that way."
Seek out the laws necessary for your advancement in life. Understand them, imbibe them, abide by them, and watch yourself come out on top.
Remember, ignorance of the law is not an excuse and is not an admissible confession in a court of law.
So it is with life.
